BAF is working closely with New Plymouth District Council and the eco system of organisations involved in providing emergency food, food rescue and the growing number of community gardens.
One of our aims for this initiative is to support better connection and collaboration across the food security sector and from this also enable increasing connection between food security and food resilience (seeing food security as a gateway that can connect people to community gardens and community growing networks).
In addition, we are working to catalyse a more connected service ecosystem that recognises that people who are hungry often have other needs that require support and addressing those needs will help reduce the likelihood that people stay hungry. We are working with a wider group of related service providers to explore a hub model that would see food provided within a collaborative and connected service approach.
