BAF worked with the trustees of the Manna Healing Centre to turn their amazing facility in Oakura into the Manna Home (youth transition) under the leadership and oversight of BAF.
Manna Home is a home for 16–21 year olds from adverse backgrounds who are transitioning to independence. At the heart of our mahi we believe that each taiohi (young person) is a valuable taonga, carrying great potential, and is worth investing in. We walk alongside our taiohi by providing a nurturing home and a caring community that incorporates life skills, tailor made support, mentoring, physical activities, access to professional care and spiritual & cultural practices. This enables our taiohi to step into an independent and hope-filled future, entering adulthood as resilient, equipped taiohi with opportunities and dreams for their life. Furthermore this life-changing experience will go on to positively impact their whānau and communities. Manna support consists of a 6 month live-in programme followed by up to 12 additional months of mentoring once they have transitioned to independent living of their choice.
As this is a residential program, live-in support is provided for the taiohi residing here by staff who live intentionally in a way that reinforces a kaupapa of living together as whānau. Find out more at www.mannayouth.org.nz
We gratefully acknowledge funding from Oranga Tamariki, TOI Foundation, the Robert Gibson Trust and the Tindall Foundation as well as the many local donors who support our work.
If you know a taiohi who could benefit from Manna or want to know more about our mahi please contact us. We look forward to connecting!
